PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Shane Robinson —

Fern Camp

Kia Ora,

I hope you and your families are well. It has been a lovely spell of weather here in Wellington and many of our students are out and about. I am currently on camp with the Fern team, we are having a blast enjoying a small slice of our local environment.

Last week a large, talented group of athletes represented Maungaraki in the Southwest/Southeast Zone Cross Country Race. It was a fantastic day and a great way to test our skills against schools in the nearby area. Our Maungaraki team ran extremely well and should be very proud of themselves. A special congratulations to the students that qualified for the Zone event later in the term.

We are well on the way to developing some new play spaces around the school. Our new sandpit is open for play and has been super popular this week. This sandpit sits alongside Room 8 and is just awaiting on a cover to complete it. Next to the sandpit we have also constructed a new ‘Play House’. This has also been a hit with our students at break times. A huge thanks to Tim our extraordinary caretaker for making these spaces come alive.

Over the next few weeks we will be in touch with some draft concepts for a larger playground space overlooking the bottom field.

Our DISCO last Friday was a huge success. The event ran so smoothly due to the hard work done by the Home and School team alongside the Student Leaders. Without their attention to detail and hard work we simply would not be able to have such a wonderful event. The night was filled with smiles, dancing and amazing costumes. Thank you to all those who supported this event and made it possible.

Until next time, be your best.
