Maungaraki School —

Term 2

THANKS

A huge thanks to the Gwerder family. Trent, Sarah, Cole and Mackenzie came in to see us on Wednesday this week. Over the holidays the Gwerders entered and won a prize pack with TEN rugby balls for Maungaraki School. These will be great out in our playground over the coming months.

HOME & SCHOOL

The Home and School Committee is having its AGM on Tuesday the 7th of May at 7:30pm in the staffroom. Please come along if you would like to be part of the committee or would just like to help out occasionally. We look forward to seeing you there.

SWEATSHIRTS & T-SHIRTS

A new shipment of t-shirts and sweatshirts has been delivered.  Come and see us in the school office to purchase.

  • T-shirts - $20 each
  • Sweatshirts - $45 each or $55 with a name/surname printed on the back (it will take about 2 weeks to get printed)

MOVIN MARCH PARENT SURVEY

Movin’ March was a month-long event organised by Greater Wellington Regional and local Councils to encourage students to walk or wheel to school. To help us improve our programme, please complete the Greater Wellington’s parent survey before it closes on Monday 20th May. Respondents can go in the draw to win a $100 Prezzy card!

We appreciate your help - your comments will help us encourage more students to walk and wheel to school.

BOOK EXCHANGE

Room 8 has opened our Enviroschools project - a book exchange.  At last count, we have around 150 picture books and novels ready to go. This project is a great way to enable parents and children to exchange unread or outgrown books for new books, as well as practicing sustainability and recycling in a long term project. The Book Exchange is open Wednesday to Friday, 8.30 - 8.50, and then after school from 3.10 - 3.30. Bring in any picture books or novels that are suitable for Year 1 to Year 8 students, and trade them in. Books need to be in very good condition, as we want the books to last in their new homes. Each book is worth one voucher. Vouchers will be dated, named and signed by student volunteers, and retained in Rm 8 until redeemed. If you don't find a suitable book on the day, we will hold onto the vouchers until a book you want comes in. If they love their new book they can keep it forever. If they don’t want to keep it they can swap it again the following week.

ROAD PATROL

Do you have a spare morning or afternoon?  We are looking for volunteers to support our Road Patrol students either before or after school.  Please contact Darian Schulz or the school office if you can help.

GOOD TIME MUSIC CONCERT

Good Time Music will be working out of the school this term.  We will be arranging a concert in the hall to share some of the instruments that children can learn.  All are welcome to the show.  Flyers will be handed out regarding lessons with information on how to book.  See the attached flyer for more details.

COLD & FLU SEASON

As we head in to winter it's a good time to remind everyone that sick students should not be at school, sports matches or any other event. This is so they can rest and recover and don’t spread illness to others.

Please let the school office know if your child will be away sick.  Ring and leave a message on our answer phone 569 7205 or from the Absentee link on our website.
