SPORT

Maungaraki School —

Term 4

SPORTS LEADER FOR 2019

Mr Cowman will step back from being our PE and Sports Leader at the end of this year.  From the start of 2019, Miss Pollard will be taking over this role, managing both in school and out of school sport.  Mr Cowman will not be lost to sport at Maungaraki, he will still be supporting Miss Pollard as well as running our School Sports Academy.

Under Mr Cowman, sport and physical activity participation has been a major focus and has grown at Maungaraki School.  Our students have been offered many more opportunities to participate in sports activities in 2018.  We know that this growth and success will continue with Miss Pollard next year and beyond.

TOUCH RUGBY

All the best to our teams tomorrow night as they compete in their respective finals.  Remember prize giving will take place straight after the game in front of the Pelorus Sports House.  A big thank you to the parents who volunteered to coach and manage the teams this term.  We really appreciate and value your support.  Running these teams would not be possible without you.

TOUCH RUGBY 2019

Touch Rugby notices for 2019 have been sent out via Signmee to give us an indication of who will be playing in 2019.  This needs to be filled in by Friday 7 December 2018.

We will run the year 5 & 6 and year 7 & 8 teams differently next year. To meet the needs of all students, both competitive and social players, we ask that your child select whether they would like to play touch socially, or trial for a competitive team. These trials will be held at school during lunch time in week 9 and teams will be selected from this. We will try and cater to all students, however some students who wish to play competitively may be placed in a social team.

For social players, we are keen to encourage participation and having fun through sport. With this in mind when you complete the Signmee notice please state the name of one friend your child would like to play with in term 1. Being with this friend can’t be guaranteed, however we will do our best to meet all requests.

UPCOMING EVENTS

We have Year 3/4 Non Stop Cricket on Wednesday the 5th and Year 7/8 Ki O Rahi on Tuesday 11th December.
