Maungaraki School —

End of Term 2

PROPERTY WORK

Over the Term 1 school holidays we hope to start the next phase of the property work announced in the last newsletter.  The large tree by room 6 will be removed which will allow us to review the damage to the pipes.  The Ministry also hope to deliver the portable classroom to the school.

SWEATSHIRTS & T-SHIRTS

A new order of t-shirts and sweatshirts is due to arrive in the school holidays so we will have all sizes available at the beginning of Term 2.

HOME & SCHOOL FUNDRAISERS

A huge thank you to everyone who supported the Maungaraki Home & School’s first quiz night last Friday. We had some great eighties costumes, an entertaining quiz and lots of cool prizes. A special thanks to all of our sponsors from the wider community who gave so generously to the event, your contributions were much appreciated. The evening raised just over $6000 which is fantastic. The money raised will go towards the much needed upgrade of the school Hard Surfaces areas.

SPARE CLOTHES

Term 2 is cooler and wetter so children tend to need spare clothes.  If your child does get wet at school please put a spare change of clothes in their bag.  We do hold some spares at school in case of emergencies but it's a very limited supply.

SCABIES

We have had cases of Scabies at school. This is a contagious skin disease caused by a barely-visible parasite called the Scabies mite. Symptoms include itchy skin and a rash. It is spread by skin to skin contact and sometimes from shared items like bedding and towels. Prompt diagnosis and treatment is required to deal with the condition, and to prevent serious skin infections and the mites spreading to other people.

GOOD TIME MUSIC BUS

The Goodtime Music Bus will be running a trial at Maungaraki School on Fridays in Term 2.  There will be a concert held early in the Term and more information will be provided on how to sign up to lessons.
