Maungaraki School —

New AED in Maungaraki

MAUNGARAKI AED INSTALLED

We have a new addition to the Community Hall - we now have an externally located, publicly accessible AED in Maungaraki.  A big thanks to the Western Ward Community Panel, who have donated 7 (with one more due to be added) to the suburbs in the Western Ward - there will also be an AED at our neighbours in Normandale easing access for all residents.

These units are supplied by Wellington Free Ambulance, and require calling 111 first before being able to access the unit. A big problem with AEDs is people forget to call 111 as they're so caught up in what they're doing. It also means you will have a trained person on hand the moment you need to access the system, and support will be arranged at the time.

More signage will be going up in the next couple of months to ensure the visibility of the unit.

The MCA will be arranging community training with Wellington Free Ambulance over the next few weeks. This will be free to public to attend.

FAREWELL

It is with sadness that we farewell Julia Belcher from Maungaraki School.  She is leaving us next week and relocating to the South Island.  She has been an invaluable member of our support staff team for many years.  She has made a huge difference to the lives of many children at school, particularly those with english as second language needs.  We would like to thank her for all of the energy and effort that she has brought to the school.  Thank you for all you have done for our families.

DRIVEWAY ACCESS

Just to let families know that the school drive way will be closed in the morning from 8:25am to 9:25am.  We will continue to close the driveway in the afternoons from 2:55pm to 3:15pm.

ABSENCES & LATENESS

If your child will be away from school please advise us as early as possible.  Call the office on 5697205 and leave a message on the absence line.  There is also a absentee link that can be used on our website www.maungaraki.school.nz

A reminder that if your child is late to school in the morning please ask them to come to the office and sign in.

WANTED - BOARD GAMES
Winter is here and we will be spending more time inside the classrooms over lunch breaks. We are looking for any donations of Board Games that we could use around our school. If you have a Board Game that you no longer use and would like to donate please drop it off to the office so we can sort and distribute them to classrooms. Thank you for your support.

BIRTHDAY TREATS

Please do not bring in treats for the class on your childs birthday.  Although this is a lovely thing to do and the children love getting a sweet treat at the end of the day, it is becoming more complicated to manage here at school. If you have any questions about this please contact me on principal@maungarakischool.net.

WIG WEDNESDAY 19 JUNE

Maungaraki School are continuing to support the Child Cancer Wig Wednesday fundraiser.  Wear a wig next Wednesday 19 June and bring a gold coin for this great cause.

MAUNGARAKI SCHOOL BOOK EXCHANGE

We are open before and after school in Room 8 each Friday. We have hundreds of novels and picture books, so bring in books in great condition, and swap for a new book!
