Maungaraki School —

Week 8

WEETBIX TRYATHLON

What a great event the Weetbix Kids tryathlon is for the children of Lower Hutt and how positive it was to see 59 of our students being involved in this year’s race. A community event like this provides our students with an exciting opportunity to give sport a go. These Tryathlons have become a significant tradition amongst students across New Zealand for over a decade.

It was great to see the Maungaraki flag flying amongst all the other schools attending. Congratulations to everyone who took up this challenge.

EASTER RAFFLE FUNDRAISER

Thank you so much to everyone in the school community for your huge support of this fundraiser.  The amount of tickets sold and money received far exceeded our expectations.

Any outstanding raffle tickets and money must be handed in to the office on Monday morning to be able to get in to the prize draw.

The draw will be held on Wednesday and winners will be announced on Wednesday afternoon.

BUILD AND PLAY TRAILER

We have been busy at school with the Hutt City Council Build and Play Trailer operating for the last two weeks. This is an initiative that gives our children a chance to create and design using tools, and most importantly their imaginations.

It has been lovely to see the creativity and joy in this area over the last two weeks and we would like to say a huge thank you to all of the volunteers that have helped make this a possibility.  Thank you to everyone who donated goods for us to use.

CULTURAL GROUP

Kia ora koutou! Our school cultural group has started learning new waiata for their performance at Hutt Fest this year. We are hoping to get some support from the community to incorporate a song or a dance of cultural importance to YOU! We would need support teaching our tamariki, and in making sure we are being culturally appropriate when sharing the song/dance.

We are also looking to further develop our welcome assembly. If you would like to discuss this please email Hazel Andis at hazel.andis@maungaraki.school.nz. We look forward to hearing from you!
