Maungaraki School —

Fun Run

Kia Ora,

I hope you had an amazing break and had some time to relax. I was able to spend some much needed time with my extended family whom had been in Australia due to the COVID situation. It was great to catch up with them and enjoy some quality Wellington weather.

We had an incredible finish to Term 1 here at school. Four of our brave students were a part of a five student team which raised over $5,000 towards cancer research. This initiative was organised by Zac whom then enlisted some of his friends and family to make it a reality. This true display of initiative and HEART really displays what our children are capable of. Congratulations to Zac, Quinn, Mackenzie, Xavier for their bravery and a huge thanks to our community for supporting this event.  We would also like to thank Jackson - an ex student who was also part of this event.

Last week goal sheets came home in children's schoolbags. The sheets are to let you know some of the things that are being worked on in the classrooms. Please do take some time to have a conversation with your child and ask them what they are working on. They should be able to tell you how they are looking to improve and will love sharing with you. If you have any questions around these goals sheets please do see your child's class teacher.

Last week we had our annual School Cross Country on. Our runners were superb. They ran strongly and persisted in some very challenging conditions. From this race we were able to select runners to head away to the inter zone event which is on next Tuesday.

This week we have a Fun Run. Our last Fun Run was an absolute blast for young and old. We have so may zones to keep our runners engaged including a mud pit, wet zone, water slide, foam pit, colour stations and so much more. If you are free next Friday afternoon from 1pm - 3pm please do come down and join us on the course. A special mention to Alle Pollard-Smith for organising these events.

As always please do pop in if you have any questions or a suggestion.

No riera, kia kaha ra,
