Term 3

HOME & SCHOOL CONTRIBUTIONS

Thanks to your INCREDIBLE support and our AMAZING Home and School we have some new arrivals here at school.

- Chow down at one of our four new picnic tables.
- Relax on some of our new pieces of library furniture. Or...
- Dry some painting in our new state of the art drying racks.

THANK YOU TEAM.  WE REALLY APPRECIATE IT!

8:30 START TIME

Just a reminder that our classrooms are open from 8:30am in the morning.  Please do not send children to school earlier than this.

DOGS AT ASSEMBLY

Could we please ask that all of our four legged friends are tied up away from the entry to the hall or walkways.  Some of our children feel a little nervous about dogs.  Thanks in advance.

FIRE SAFETY BOX

You may have noticed our new fire hydrant box at the top corner of our field.  We are well aware of how ugly this looks at the moment and are looking at ways to make it look better.  Unfortunately the hydrant and its location was a fire safety requirement when we built the new modular classroom.

If you have an idea of how to make this look better please do let us know, Mr R thinks we should turn it into the Tardis!

NEW ENTRANTS

Our next New Entrants Information evening is on Tuesday 4 September at 6pm.  Please contact the school office to advise if you are planning on attending.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK BLUB

Issue 6 of the Scholastic Book Club will open on the 27 August 2018.   We will be handing out Book Club forms soon so you can check out the amazing deals.

Orders can be made on the Scholastic web site: www.scholastic.co.nz  then Parents then Lucky Book Club and Order Here.  Log in or use the Register option if you don't already have a log in.

It's an easy process all done online and is our preferred method of ordering to reduce the amount of cash & forms we have to handle.

COMMUNITY GARDENS:

Every Friday some of our year 7 & 8 students join our amazing enthusiastic gardening ladies down on the bottom field doing gardening from 12:30pm to about 1:30pm.  We will be weeding, planting new plants and doing some regular maintenance jobs.   If you would like to come down every so often and help with the gardens, it would be great.

The community gardeners would really appreciate some more of the community coming together to help out.  But if not, you can still help in other ways.   If you have any seeds or plants in your garage that you aren’t going to be using anymore, we would really love if you could bring them into the office.  We can then use those in the gardens as well.

POOL PARTY:

We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended the pool party last weekend.  It was an outstanding turnout and we hope you all really enjoyed yourselves.  We managed to raise $1300 which is amazing as it will go towards the Year 7 & 8 Nelson Camp at the end of October.

A special thanks to all of the parents who assisted us in running the event.  Thank you.

ONESIE DAY

Friday 7 September is Onesie Day to support the wonderful cause of Wellington Free Ambulance.  Wear your Onesie and bring a gold coin donation.

NEW STUDENTS

We would like to warmly welcome the following students who have recently joined us at Maungaraki School this Term: Sam Cooper, Diaz Herepath, Odara Gunarathna and Alex Thomson,

We look forward to getting to know you better and hope you settle in well.

ANZ OLYMPIC SCHOOL PROGRAMME

Maungaraki School is part of the ANZ Olympic Schools programme. This means our school is rewarded if you choose ANZ for your finance.

For every qualifying home or business loan referred by an ANZ staff member for someone who is connected to our school, we will receive 800 credits to spend at the ANZ Awards Centre - this equates to approximately $400.

If you are considering getting finance through ANZ please mention this to the ANZ staff member so it can be added to our Olympic Schools Programme.
