COVID VACCINATIONS

Maungaraki School —

Mandatory Vaccinations & Mask Wearing

Due to the Mandatory Vaccination Order everyone who works in a school who may have contact with students, or will be present at a time when students are also present, must have had a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by 15 November and be fully vaccinated by 1 January 2022.

From 1 January 2022, schools must only allow those that are fully vaccinated to provide onsite services. This includes all staff, unpaid workers (such as volunteers), contractors and any other staff providing services to our school.  This applies not only on site schooling, but also on camps, trips, the coaching and managing of sports teams and all other programmes that take place throughout the school.

We are also required to maintain a register, and ensure only vaccinated people have contact with students.

As a school we have been working hard to ensure we meet this requirement and will continue to do so to ensure the safety of our staff, students and our community.

Maungaraki school will require ALL visitors coming on site to wear a mask.

Anyone coming in to our school during a time when staff or students are present will be required to wear a mask.  This includes all parents and caregivers (if it is necessary for them to come on site), contractors, volunteers and staff from agencies that assist Maungaraki school to run programmes or provide extra support to our students.

Students are not currently required to wear a mask at school.  However if your child would like to wear a mask we would ask caregivers to educate children on how to wear them correctly to ensure their best use.

We will continue to communicate with you around the changing requirements that come along with this challenging time and we appreciate your support with this.
