Shane Robinson —

Our School Reading Challenge begins next week

Kia Ora,

I do hope you are keeping warm in this winter blast.  Winter has certainly hit Maungaraki in full force this week with wind, cold, rain and even hail present. In light of this, please do send your children to school with plenty of layers to keep warm.

Our School Reading Challenge begins next week and we will be continuing with our reading focus until the end of the term. This is an excellent chance for families to sit down and dive into the joy that can be found from reading.  Proceeds from the Reading Challenge will go towards our Hard Surface Project.  We really do appreciate all of the parental support we get when we fundraise.  Please share the sponsorship forms far and wide.  For more information on this event please see the Reading Challenge Page in this school newsletter.

Teachers are also busy writing Mid Year reports for children.  These will be sent home later in the term.  This year our new report formats are going to be sent home via email.  Families will be able to request a paper copy should you require one, but in a effort to save paper we will use email as the normal.  More information around this will following in our next newsletter.

Teachers have Paid Union Meetings coming up as they negotiate conditions.  I would like to thank our community in advance as we go into these.  You are so supportive of the amazing staff that work at Maungaraki School.

Until next time, be your best.

No riera, kia kaha ra,
