SPORT AT MAUNGARAKI

Maungaraki School —

Term 1

TOUCH

Touch finals for term 1 are on tonight!  Prizegiving is on after each round in front of the stage outside Pelorous Trust Sportshouse.
Coaches - take your teams over for a prizegiving after the game.
Parents - allow extra time to attend this after the game.

BASKETBALL

Signmee notices have gone out regarding Basketball in Terms 2 & 3.  If your child would like to play please make sure these are completed by Thursday 1 April when they will close off.

We still require more coaches for all year groups.  Please let Mrs Pollard-Smith know if you can coach.  Without your support we will be unable to register as many teams as we would like in to the competition.  Thanks.

CAPTURE THE FLAG

On Tuesday a large group of Year 5 - 8 students attended the Capture the Flag tournament run by LHPSSA at Hutt Park. What a stunning day it was too! There were about 430 students who took part in the event and everyone who attended showed great spirit.

This was a new event for us and proved very popular with the students, who have been playing the game in their syndicates as part of PE. Congratulations to Maungaraki Koru 1 who came second place in the race for the Team Spirit Award! A huge thanks to the parents who assisted us with supervision and officiating; we cannot run these events without your support!

TENNIS AT MAUNGARAKI SCHOOL

Yesterday marked the beginning of our lunchtime tennis sessions. Assisted by Mr Glue and Jacob from Maungaraki Tennis Club, students ran activities and games on the astro turf. It's all about giving a new sport a go, exploring different ways of improving techniques in an unfamiliar sport, and having some fun with people we may not normally mix with.

These sessions will become student-led and will be held on Thursday lunchtimes in Term 1 and Term 4. They will be weather dependent at other times of the year. Thanks to those who came along today - it looked like a great time out there!
