ACTIVITY FEES DONATION

Shane Robinson —

Changes to the Activities payments

In 2020 Maungaraki School will be changing the way we collect contributions towards school activities. In the past we have sent requests for school activities as they come up during the year, this has meant that families are receiving information about payments at multiple stages during a term. Feedback from the community is that this is inconvenient and difficult to manage.

In an effort to make this process smoother we are moving to a termly Activity Donation. The $30 per term payment will cover the cost of activities that the children take part in during the term. These activities include trips offsite, visiting groups to the school, classroom activities, digital learning tools and swimming lessons.

This payment does not cover School Camps or extra curricular sporting events and activities such as Southwest & Interzone events, school Netball, Basketball or Touch Rugby teams.

At the end of each term we will inform you of the way in which this activity donation has been used during the term. Many schools have moved to a system like this in the last few years in an effort to make life simpler for families.

This Activity Donation can be paid in a number of ways; in one lump sum during the year; $30 each term; in amounts as you can or set up a payment plan to the school bank account for amounts that work for your situation.

This payment is separate from our School Donation which is unchanged for 2020:
- $200 for the first child
- $180 for the second child with a maximum of $380 per family.

As you may be aware schools that are decile 7 and below are getting assistance from the government in 2020 around school donations. Unfortunately Maungaraki School does not qualify for this assistance.

Our School is extremely grateful for the support we have from the community. We are able to offer rich and varied programmes to your children because of the support that you give us.

Thank you! If you have any questions around this change please feel free to contact me.
