Shane Robinson —

Enjoy the long weekend

Kia ora e te whānau,

The wind has made its presence felt up here on the hill today.  I am hoping that the weather improves for the upcoming long weekend.

We had a very competitive group of runners attend the Interzone Cross Country event this week.  Our students represented the school extremely well, running hard, pushing themselves and cheering loudly to support each other.  We did have some stand out performances which you can read about in the sports report this week. Congratulations to all involved.  A special thank you to the adults who help organise the event, transported children and supported our school on the day.

We also had students participate in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Challenge this week.  This event took place at the Dowse Art Museum.  We had three teams represent our school.  Each team represented the school with pride and were excellent role models - well done!  Another thank you to the adults who helped transport, encourage and organise this event.

I am extremely lucky to work with exceptional people at Maungaraki School. Our teachers are one group of incredible people.  They give of themselves for our children each and every single day.  The extra care and relationships they grow are something which really make this school a special place to be a part of.  They have expert knowledge of learning and are constantly inquiring into how they can help our students to be the best that they can.  Our teachers work together to create some incredible outcomes for our students and the wider community.  I am very proud to stand beside our teachers in the work that they do at Maungaraki School. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their efforts.

Enjoy your long weekend and until next time, be your best.
