PRODUCTION - 18th & 19th SEPTEMBER

Once Upon a Night : Tales from the Library

Next term we have our School Production - Once Upon a Night: Tales from the Library. This show will be taking place in the Assembly of God Church over two days in week 9 - Wednesday 18th & Thursday 19th September. This space gives us a good opportunity to have a large amount of whānau see the show.

The production is a celebration of the arts here at Maungaraki School. We have a sensational arts programme running here at school, led by some incredibly passionate people. We are looking forward to giving all of our tamariki a chance to shine through the arts in this performance.

Due to the growing size of our school we have had to make some changes to the way the production will be structured. With 16 classes, and giving each child a chance to shine, we were looking at having an epic length production of around 3 hours. We deemed this to be simply too long, for children and adults.

To address this we have split our production into two seperate shows. Each show will be the same content (dances and acting), but will have a different group of classes performing. On Wednesday 18th Sept we will have an afternoon matinee and an evening performance with one group of classrooms, and on the Thursday 19th Sept we will have an afternoon matinee and an evening performance with the remainder of the classrooms. The whole school will be required to be at the production for both nights, to sing together and cheer on their classmates. Structuring the show like this will keep the performances down to around an hour and a half, a much more manageable time for us all.

Wednesday 18th September
We have the following classrooms sharing their items: Rooms 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 13 and Room 15

Thursday 19th September
We have the following classrooms sharing their items: Room 1, 4, 7, 11, 12, 14 and Room 16

We do understand that this will cause difficulties with siblings in separate performances, and apologise for the inconvenience this causes. Unfortunately there wasn’t really an ideal solution, and we have chosen something that we believe is the best option. The shows will be filmed and shared with the school community, and we will provide ticketing deals for both nights where needed. More information around tickets will be released early next term.
