Maungaraki School —

Term 4

CAR PARK

We are really excited about the new entranceway to the school. It will have a positive impact on our environment and also the safety of pedestrians and other road users. While the construction is under way there will be more traffic congestion as areas to the school and Community Hall are closed off.

We are very aware of maintaining positive relationships with local businesses and residents. With this in mind please think about where you are parking. Barberry Grove is a narrow street with limited residential parking. If you can avoid parking or picking up children from here we would appreciate it. We also understand that Benedicts is a great service for our local community and when people take advantage of the long term parks it does have a detrimental effect on their business. If you can keep this in mind over the next few months as work is completed.

Thank you for your consideration and understanding as we continue to make improvements to our school and community.

BIKES & SCOOTERS RIDING TO SCHOOL

With the increase of bikes and scooters coming to school we have had an increase in incidents along with some complaints from the community around safety.

If your child does ride to school please discuss with them the safe sharing of entries and exits. Most of our students on bikes should be using safe road practices, please discuss these with your child as well as their safe route to school.

We have bikes in schools coming in to do safety training with students and we will be out monitoring where we can. Thanks for your support with this, safety is our main concern for our students and community members. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us.

CHOCOLATES

We are thrilled that our Whittaker’s Chocolate Fundraiser has been a huge success! Thank you to everyone who sold chocolates, through your hard work we have raised around $5000 so far with further sales to come in.

Congratulations to those who received prizes for the top sales and spot prizes. A tremendous effort, it was wonderful to see the spirit and enthusiasm all around our community. We supported NZ-Made by Shopping Local!

Thank you very much for getting involved! Our fundraising efforts will support the purchase of helmets along with the fit out and maintenance of our bikes & bike shed.
