HALLOWEEN

We know many in our community celebrate Halloween by 'Trick or Treating' with friends and family.  A wonderful person has come up with the idea of a door sign that can indicate if a house is participating in this or not - see the attached images.  

The sign hangs on your door and can be turned over to either welcome trick or treaters or send them on their way!  We have these in the Maungaraki School office so pop in to get one if you are interested.

HUTT CITY CHURCH

Hutt City Church have a Saints & Angels kids party on Saturday 31st October from 5:30pm - 7pm. $2 entry and come dressed as a Saint, Angel or Action hero (no halloween costumes). See the attached flyer for more details.

JUMBLE SALE

There is a fundraising garage and jumble sale at St Aidan’s on the Hill on Saturday 31 October 2020 between 9am and noon. St Aidan’s is on the corner of Poto Road and Stratton Street in Normandale. There will be heaps of white elephant bargains, yummy homemade cakes & sweets and jams & preserves, a great selection of plants, loads of books, a sausage sizzle and more!!

KNOX CHURCH

Knox Church will have their annual Saints & Angels on Saturday 31st October between 5pm - 7pm.  See the attached poster for more details.  

PARENTING COURSE

www.nextchapterparenting.co.nz is offering a free parenting course to parents who might be having a struggle in managing their children, or just need some tips and advice. This course does work and has the potential to be very helpful. All it requires is for parents to look,
read, watch and hopefully gain out of the process. 

The course is offered on the website and is set out in video, and in written format.  Based on filial therapy principles, it is child centred and most definitely works for those that put in the time. Have a look! and happy parenting:)

WELLINGTON DIVING CLUB - SHOW

Our Club’s 30th Birthday celebration display & show is happening on Satursday 14 November. This will be a spectacular blend of Star Wars and springboard & platform diving! NAENAE FESTIVAL OF CRICKET

Held at Naenae Park - Fridays 5pm (30 October – 4 December).  Programmes:

• Superstar Cricket (4 – 8 years old)
  • An opportunity for young kids to come along and learn fundamental motor skills in a safe and fun environment, using cricket as the motivating factor
• Yeah! Girls (9-12 years old)
  • Cricket, but not as you know it! An opportunity for fun and learning, providing a girls only experience

UKULELE, GUITAR & SINGING LESSONS

Guitar, Ukulele, Bass Guitar and Singing lessons are available at school on Tuesday’s and the cost is $10.00 per session (2nd child from the same family is 1/2 price).

As a music tutor I love seeing my students "get it" and my unique “fast style” will have your child up and playing chords and songs in their very first lesson.
Progression is my focus and over my career I have developed hundreds of high quality hand made song sheets for my students to progress through.
In home private lessons are also available in Guitar, Ukulele, Bass Guitar, Drumming, Singing or Songwriting from $22.50 per session.

WATER POLO SUMMER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

Water polo is a game based around complex skills. Young children need time to develop these skills in a fun environment with experienced coaches. Our philosophy and commitment to this hasn’t changed, but our programme will be different this year.

For this summer, we are seeking expressions of interest from children to be considered for girls and boys development squads, aged between 10-12 years old, indicatively.

We anticipate selecting between 10-15 players for each group, up to the age of 12, but possibly 13 years, depending on skill levels across the groups.  A number of factors will be considered when selecting the groups, but the primary attribute will be current skill level, which is linked to familiarity with the game.

Matt and Megan will be coaching the two groups together. Groups will practice twice per week, for 45 minutes on Tuesday and Thursday early evenings.

This is a great opportunity for players looking to move from modified flippa ball into the junior version of the game. Parents can expect their children to develop all round physical conditioning, with skills emphasis on eggbeater for movement and passing, along with swimming and shooting.
