PRINCIPALS MESSAGE

Shane Robinson —

Year 7 & 8 Leadership camp

Kia ora e te whānau,

School has been buzzing with some wonderful learning over the last two weeks.
The Junior School held their cultural food festival last week. The range of wonderful food that our children were able to try was incredible. Thank you to all of our families for taking the time to share a part of your culture with us.

We also had a very successful Year 7 & 8 leadership week which included a brilliant walk up the Belmont Trig and a camp out at school. Leaders organised and cooked their own meals, pitched their own tents as well as setting and achieving goals throughout the week. Well done to all involved.

Our school swimming programme is up and in full swing at Huia pool. If you have any questions about this programme please contact your child's class teacher in the first instance.

Goal Setting evenings are coming later in the month. This will give families an opportunity to visit with the classroom teacher and discuss how the year has begun as well as look at goals. We would also really like to hear from you around what aspirations they have for your children in 2019. A goal setting information sheet will be out shortly for you to fill in.

Primary school teachers and principals are attending paid union meetings in March to discuss their collective bargaining goals.  Maungaraki School Teachers will be meeting on the 19th March in the afternoon. School will remain open but parents are able to pick up children at 12:50pm if they are able to.  Please sign your child out with your classroom teacher.  Our staff would like to thank you for the support you offer.

Until next time, be your best.
No reira, kia kaha ra,

Shane Robinson
