Maungaraki School —

Term 1

 BUILDING WORK

We will have builders on site here at school from next week for the next three months.  During the holidays we are expecting major building work to take place down behind rooms 4, 5 & 6.  This area will be fenced off, please stay away.

During the holidays we are expecting delivery of a new classroom.  This will be craned in and then completed on site over the duration of term 2.

While the building work is being carried out we will have a special focus on safety around the school.  We would appreciate your support with this by discussing it with your child and keeping away from the building areas.

PARENT SURVEY

At Maungaraki School we are looking at the way in which we report to parents. Over the last two terms staff have been exploring options about how this may look. We would like to know which parts of these reports you as families see as important. This is so that we can ensure we are representing your voice as we set up new reports post National Standards.

Click on the below link to fill out our survey.

If you would like to talk about this please feel free to contact Shane and make a time to meet.

LOST PROPERTY

We have a large amount of lost property from school and the hall.  We will have this displayed outside the office for the last week of school so please check if you are missing anything from lunch boxes and drink bottles to goggles and hats.

PINK RIBBON DAY

Maungaraki school is participating in the gold coin donation for the breast cancer awareness foundation.  There is going to be a pink ribbon day on the 10th of April. The reason we are doing this is because it is such an important course and we like the whole school to participate.
There will be a bucket taken round all classes and find out what class raised the most money, and they will receive a certificate and each student in that class will receive a pink ribbon.  Thanks, Tara

PAYSKOOL

Payskool provided the Home & School with a payment portal to allow parents to pay and order their Thursday lunches.  They are no longer providing this facility.

Some families have a credit on their account.  We have asked Payskool to credit all of these amounts back to the Home & School account.  We will then be in contact with you about how you would like your refund.  Please contact the school office if you have any questions.

COMPLAINTS POLICY

We have attached our Complaints Policy which is currently under review with our Board of Trustees.  If you would like to provide feedback for the Board to consider please email Shane Robinson principal@maungarakischool.net or Paul Matthews our board chair paul@paulmatthews.co.nz

BASKETBALL

The Signmee notices for all year levels of basketball have gone out.  Please contact Chris Cowman if you did not receive the notice and you child would like to play.

ENVIRO UPDATE

Kia Ora Maungaraki School,

This is our enviro update for the week. Firstly some our the enviro team have been working on the paper recycling bins. We are emptying them out into the big blue bin outside the hall. Just remember, the only things that go into the paper recycling bin are things like paper, cardboard and clean plastics. We are also working on the compost bins inside your classrooms by emptying them out and cleaning them. We empty them into the compost bins around the back of the school to decompose and turn into soil for our gardens. Gardening gang is another project the enviro team has been working hard on.  We are doing things like weeding gardens and making the school look better. You can also help to make the school look better by picking up rubbish around the school when you see it. Thanks.

MOVIN MARCH

Movin March was a month-long event organised by Greater Wellington Regional and local Councils to encourage students to walk or wheel to school.  To help us build on this initiative  please could parents complete this short survey by Friday 27 April.  Survey respondents will also go in the draw to win a $100 prezzy card.  Thanks for your help - your comments will help us encourage more students to walk and wheel to school.
