HILLS SHARING EVENT

Last week we had our Hills sharing event with Korokoro and Normandale schools. It's a fantastic morning of sharing, singing, and spending time together. It was amazing to see our Cultural group sing some new songs, and perform some tried and true beauties as well.

Well done Mr McC for teaching the group some truly tricky songs, they sounded beautiful! We look forward to doing it all again next year. The Cultural Group will perform their songs (weather permitting) at the week 8 assembly so as to share with parents their mahi. We will put out more details closer to the time.

MARKET DAY

WHEN: Friday 20th November: 11:30am - 12:40pm
WHERE: Outside Court (or in Rm 4 & 5 and 9 &10 if wet)
WHAT: Koru & Fern students have worked hard last term to create a business idea and products to sell at our upcoming Market Day. The money raised will go towards the end-of-year Y8 leavers' dinner (Koru students have a pizza incentive). Students can exchange money for tickets at one of the designated exchange stations, which can then be used to purchase things. All items will be priced between $1 - $5 and parents are welcome to attend the event as well. Kākano kids and parents can start going through the stalls from 11:30am, with the rest of the school from 12:00 midday.

There is a wide variety of products to choose from: fudge, earrings, scrunchies, pom-pom monsters, 3D printed nick snacks, toothbrush bots, and much much more. Along with this there will be a variety of games that students (and parents alike) can participate in.

We look forward to seeing you there!!

QUIZ NIGHT

We had a very successful quiz night last weekend. The Home and School committee did an incredible job of organising this event. Our community hall was beautifully decorated and looked glamorous in the theme of Wellywood (Hollywood). Teams dressed up in this theme and we had some incredible costumes on display.

A good number of teams turned out to have some fun answering some very challenging questions delivered by Richard and Nikki Papps. Thank you to Paul Matthews for being the MC on the night, keeping a hall filled with happy and loud adults in line isn't easy.

A very special thanks to the Maungaraki Home and School. Led by Lizzie Briscoe they pulled together to put on a much needed night of fun and laughter. So much hard work went into making this night possible, from making tickets to serving food on the night and so much more, they were amazing!

LIBRARY

We will soon be doing a stock take in the Library.  Please make sure all Library books have been returned to school by the 27 November.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB

Issue 8 is now open so get your online orders in online.  Orders will close on Monday 23 November at 3pm so that books are received well before the end of the year.  This will be our last order for 2020, thank you.

BASKETBALL SINGLETS

Thank you to those students and families who have returned their basketball singlets. Can you please hunt around your homes to see if you have one of our singlets as we are still missing a number of singlets and return to Mr C in Room 14. We really need these singlets back as they do cost a bit of money to purchase and missing singlets will impact next year's teams.

NETBALL UNIFORMS

Netball Tunics.  If you still have these at home please send them back to school.  Thank you.

LOST PROPERTY

We have a ton of lost property being held so if you are missing items come in and check the pile.

LOUD SHIRT DAY

Thanks to all of your donations for Loud Shirt Day.  We made $231 for the The Hearing House and the Southern Cochlear Implant programme.
