SPORTS UPDATE
Last week our Year 3/4 Maungaraki Warriors won their miniball final 26-12. They saved their best game for the final and showed awesome team work with slick passing, shooting and were tenacious on defence. It was a brilliant game to end the season on. It's been a successful season for them winning orange grade in Term 2 and green grade in Term 3.
Thanks to Maungaraki Association and parents for their support during the season, and also Nia and Mel for their time and effort in coaching and managing the team.
Also congratulations to our Year 5/6 Raptors basketball team, who had an amazing season going undefeated until the final but unfortunately were pipped for 1st place. Thank you to Silvia and Lisa for overseeing the team this term!
Lastly, well done to all our winter sports teams. You demonstrated a great attitude and represented Maungaraki superbly. Also a huge thanks again to all the managers and coaches of all our sports teams for the last 2 terms, the students wouldn't have been able to participate without you giving up your time to run the teams!
THANK YOU
We would like to extend a big thank you to all of our basketball coaches & managers who have helped out with the teams over the last 2 terms:
Sarah Gwerder, Lucia Lu, Tui & Kevin Counsell - the year 1/2 teams
Nia Perez & Gill Fowler - the Year 3/4 teams
Silvia Canessa & Lisa Turner - the year 5/6 team
Michelle Pakai - the year 7/8 team
ONESIE DAY
Thank you for supporting Onesie day. Your generous donations helped us raise $365.80
YUMMY STICKERS
The time has come for you to bring in your vast collections of Yummy stickers and Yummy bar codes. Last year the school received over $160 worth of sports equipment courtesy of your efforts in both buying Yummy apples, and saving the stickers and bar codes from those apples. Please have your children bring the stickers and bar codes you have saved over the last year to the office, this week, so the Home and School Committee can post them to The Yummy Apple Company. They will tally up our stickers and allocate us a dollar value to spend with DG Sport on much needed sports equipment.
Thank you for your efforts everyone.
Home and School Committee.
DAYLIGHT SAVINGS
A reminder that daylight savings starts on Sunday the 24th September at 2am. Remember to put your clocks forward 1 hour.
GIVE A LITTLE PAGE FOR VICTORIA
For those families who know Victoria, who started in room 5 last year, we have been given an update from her dad. He has shared that Victoria is not doing so well and they have been advised that there is a 1% - 3% chance of curing her. But mum and dad aren't giving up hope and are looking at alternative treatments that may provide some longevity for Victoria.
If you would like to support this family please donate using the give a little page link below. Our thoughts continue to be with them all as they go through these hard times.
