Maungaraki School —

Week 3 of Term 3

STRIKE ACTION

As advised Teachers and Principals have voted to strike for a day.  School will therefore be closed for the whole day on Wednesday 15 August.

Please see the attached communication from the Maungaraki School Board of Trustees that was sent out to all families last week.

It’s important that you make alternative arrangements for the care of your child/children on the day of the strike.  We understand that the Maungaraki After-Hours Care may have limited places available - for more information see Julia and the team in the community hall either before or after school, or send them an email at maungarakiasc@gmail.com.

SWEATSHIRTS

Great news, a new shipment of school sweatshirts has just arrived. They can be purchased for $45 each or $55 with a name on the back which takes up to 2 weeks to get printed. Come in to the office and try one on, we have sizes 8 to 14.

WORKING BEE

We are having another school Working Bee on Saturday 25 August from 10:00am to 2:00pm.  Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.  Amongst all of the jobs we will be painting, sprucing up the gardens, making planter boxes and much more.  More details in the next Newsletter.

SCHOOL LIBRARY

We are excited to have our school Library back open with our new Librarian Julz.  Classes will be visiting the Library during the week and it will also be open for book clubs in the afternoons.

SPARE CLOTHES

We have had a lot of children getting wet and muddy during break times who don't have spare clothes in their bag.  We only have a small amount of spare clothes at school and cannot always accomodate the varying sizes of the children.  Please put a spare change of clothes in your child's bag.
