Term 2

Kia Ora whanau.

Welcome back to Term 2. I hope you all had a lovely break over the holidays and managed to enjoy some time with your family.

We have an exciting term ahead here at Maungaraki School with so many things happening. Our students will certainly be busy outside of the classroom with events such as Cross Country, Life Education as well as Winter sports like Miniball and Netball happening. Children have bounced back into the school and are fully engaged in a wide range of learning. It is great to have them all back and I have attached some photos of some of the things I have seen in class this week. The smiles and energy they bring to school really are quite special.

We have had a few amazing student projects come to fruition over the past few weeks. An amazing mural celebrating the diversity at Maungaraki School is now up outside Rooms 6 & 7 and it looks OUTSTANDING. We have also had the Maungaraki School Book Exchange open this week. More information about this can be found within this newsletter. Both of these projects show the incredible way that our students and staff make a huge impact on the environment. Thank you to all involved in making these happen.

As a school we would like to know more about the success and achievements of our students outside of school so that we can celebrate them in this forum. We often hear stories of the amazing things our children do in their passion areas and we would love to share these to a wider audience. If you have a child or know of someone who has achieved something worth sharing, please do let a staff member, myself, or the office know so we can shout it out.

Over the break we had some building work begin. A start has been made on our new class. This class is estimated to be on site in the next week or so and will be operational for Term 3. Our beloved tree is also being removed carefully. We have some great designs on how the Tree will be used around the school over the next year and beyond which we are looking forward to sharing with you soon.

My final note is a serious reminder. We continue to be concerned with the dangerous use of vehicles before and after school. Please use extreme caution when you drop off and pick up your children. The safety of your children is paramount and a little care and time makes a huge difference when it comes to safety. We have also had complaints regarding unsafe parking on the streets adjoining school. Please don't park over yellow lines, across driveways and obstruct traffic. Thanks for your support, we appreciate it.

Until next time, be your best.
