Term 2

In Koru we are inquiring into the context of “Finance and our Future” through "Games." We are investigating the history of games, the sustainability of companies, and then developing our own games in class. Our literacy and numeracy will tie into this, and we are looking forward to seeing the creative ideas our tamariki come up with.

Some other exciting happenings this term:

• The Great Koru Toy Swap! This will be Monday of week two. The kids can swap old toys for new.

• The Waihanga room is offering our tamariki time to explore and develop skills that are required to investigate STEAM.

• We will continue with Banqer, with a bigger focus on lessons around things such as loans, tax, and calculating interest.

• Our art focus for the term is photography. They will learn how to take photos to advertise their games once made.

• Kapa Haka - interested tamariki are working towards Huttfest in term 3.

• Week 9 and 10 we will have our swimming at Huia pools, more on this closer to the time.

• Syndicate trip: More information around this once details are confirmed.

• Lit Quiz - Some of our tamariki are working hard for the Quiz later in the year.

• EPRO8 - We have lots of tamariki working on their building and engineering skills ahead of the competition.
