Last newsletter of Term 3

Kia ora e te whānau.

The weather is finally starting to show some signs of summer and we are loving it up here at Maungaraki School.  Our students have been enjoying the wonderful environment through the day, spreading out across our large grounds.  Among other things we have had softball, netball, basketball and table tennis all in full swing - it has been fun, fun times.

Our school was represented in Artsplash this week with students singing and dancing in front of huge audiences.  A huge thanks to Nicola Pritchard, Jackie Sutherland and Amy Head, their passion and commitment to these items has ensured a polished and well delivered finished product.  A huge congratulations to all of the students that took part - you looked and sounded fabulous.

Next week we say farewell to two very valued members of our staff.  As you may know, Jackie Sutherland is moving on to a Deputy Principal role at Silverstream School.  Jackie has been a huge part of Maungaraki School and will be sorely missed.  Personally I have really enjoyed working alongside Jackie for the last two years.  Her enthusiasm is contagious and she has an incredible drive to constantly look for improvement.  Jackie's 'lets do it' attitude will be something that we all hope lives on at our school.

We also farewell Caroline Wardle at the end of the term.  Caroline is an extremely special person who makes a difference to so many of our young people.  The depth of understanding and care she has for our students is unmatched.  Maungaraki has been lucky enough to have Caroline working here for the last seven years.  She will be moving on to a role outside of education, I am sure you will join me in wishing her well in her next endeavour.

This will be the last newsletter for the term, please enjoy the sunshine and stay safe over the holiday break.

Until next time, be your best.
