Cricket, Rip Rugby and so much more....

ICC WOMEN'S CRICKET WORLD CUP LAUNCH

On Wednesday the Year 7/8 Sports Academy girls attended the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup launch at the Basin Reserve. We were invited along due to our involvement with the 'Yeah! Girls' campaign, which we have taken part in for the last few years. They took part in several 'Yeah! Girls' cricket fundamental activities, played a game of 'six ball smash', and got to meet and play alongside two women's cricket superstars, Jess Kerr, and Wellington Blaze and White Ferns captain, Sophie Devine. It was an incredible experience and the girls represented Maungaraki School with pride. Look out for us on Sky Go for Sky Sports News, and Newshub on demand!

YEAR 7 & 8 CRICKET

Our Year 7/8 cricket team is taking part in the Primary Schools cricket tournament. On Wednesday they played two games against Raroa Intermediate A and Raroa Intermediate B. They were both very tough games and losses, however the boys should be incredibly proud of their efforts, particularly in their second game, where they showed great improvement and scored more than 100 runs. They have another game coming up against Newlands Intermediate. Good luck team!

RIP RUGBY YEARS 3 - 8

Our Year 3 to 8 Rip Rugby teams have been working with Aaron Jones from Wellington Rugby during some lunchtimes. They have been working on passing, working as a team, putting the ball down, how to make a rip and how to make a play after you have been 'ripped'. Rip rugby also includes uncontested scrums and lineouts so we have been working on developing these parts of the game too. The students are having a great time and learning a lot of new skills and a new game!

YEA! GIRLS CRICKET

Be social, be you and have lots of fun…join us and be part of this sporting revolution.

YEAH! GIRLS sessions are all about inclusion and giving cricket a go. We’re not standing around waiting for a ball to land at our feet (or in our hands!), we’re hungry for good times and can’t wait to show you how much fun you can have. Our one-hour sessions are happening all over New Zealand and are run by us, your local Activators. We love cricket and know how to make this an experience you won’t want to miss out on.

If you’re aged 10-16 you’ll fit right in, so gather your friends and get into it!

See the attached poster for more details.

WEETBIX TRYATHLON

Congratulations to all of our students who did the Lower Hutt Weetbix Tryathlon.  We had a team of over 50 students from school who participated.
