Maungaraki School —

For the week ending 3rd November 2017


SENIOR ATHLETICS - YEARS 4 to 8

Senior Athletics is being held on Monday 6th November.  During the first half of the day, until lunchtime, we will hold the field events  (long jump, vortex, quoits and high jump). Students will move around each event in groups. After lunch until the end of the day will be the track programme. 

Those students in Year 4-6 who finish in the top 3 for an event and meet the qualifying standards, will attend the South West Zone Athletics on the 14th of November. Those students in Year 7 who finish in the top 3 for an event and meet the qualifying standards will attend the Year 7 & 8 Athletics in Term 1 2018.

All students will need a sunhat and clothes appropriate for sports. If it is wet, the postponement day is Wednesday 8th November. If you are around on the day we would love you to come along and support the students.

INFORMATION EVENING FOR YEAR 4 PARENTS

Next Tuesday we will be holding an Information Evening for all Year 4 Parents regarding the Year 5 & 6 Totara hub for 2018. This evening will begin at 6pm in Rooms 9 & 10.

CODE CLUB

Just a quick notice to those families whose children attend Code Club on Wednesday evenings. Unfortunately we won't be running Code Club this term. We will instead be looking at running some coding related activities within Tinker Time.

The Totara Hubs are paying it forward this Term! In the senior hub we have two actions that would benefit from your donations, they are as follows:

EPRO8 CHALLENGE - Year 5 & 6

The year 5/6 EPro8 Challenge team competed in week 1 and came 4th out of the 12 teams competing.  This qualifies them for the semi finals at the end of November - well done! 

FANCY FEET DAY

To celebrate everyone who has been active to school this year we are having a Fancy Feet Friday.
WHEN: Friday 10th November
WHAT: Dress up your feet and walk, scoot or cycle to school to show off how active you are
WHO: Everyone

YUMMY STICKERS

Thank you to everyone who gave us their Yummy Stickers.  We have raised $208 to spend on sports gear for the school.  A big thank you to Alan Ryan for organising this for us.

UNICEF 

Thank you to everyone who participated in the dress up day on Friday.  We were able to raise $272.60 to support UNICEF's work with Hurricane Victims. Thank you Mia Brown and Brooke Potter for organising this.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB ORDERS

These are due back by Friday the 3rd November.  Please drop your order into the school office.  

PRODUCTION DVD & PHOTOS

We have placed the order for the school production DVD's.  These should arrive in the next 2 weeks.  The last photo orders are also being sorted, both Photos and DVD's will be handed out once we have them all.
