PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Shane Robinson —

Welcome Back....

I hope you have enjoyed a wonderful break from school.  New Zealand certainly had some great weather for us to enjoy this summer, and we are hopeful it continues into the year.

It has been wonderful to see the children bounce back into school after the holidays.  I have enjoyed sharing holiday stories with them and have certainly been amazed at what they got up to. It seems we have some very lucky families exploring all parts of New Zealand and even further afield.

Over the summer the school has had a freshen up with a new coat of paint.  The community hall has also been rejuvenated during the summer with new lighting,  a heating/cooling  unit and fresh paint making it sparkle.  We would like to thank the Hutt City Council for their work in the hall.  It is a great resource and we can't wait to get in and utilise it.

This year will be a year of change at Maungaraki School.  We have been growing at a considerable rate over the last two years with more and more young families moving into our area.  In Term 2 there will be a renovation in our current Library.  This renovation will transform this space into two modern teaching spaces.  It does unfortunately mean our library will be out of action for term two. We are excited about the possibilities the new spaces will provide us, however this will mean some disruption as the building takes place.

Also in Term 2 we will have our new Modular Classroom being built behind Room 6.  This is the classroom the Ministry announced in the middle of last year.  It is largely built off site and then delivered to school.  Term two will be a time in which foundations and services are completed at school.  This classroom should be on site and ready to use by Term 3.

Please pop in and see me if you have any questions around our building work.  More communication will follow as these projects get closer.

Until next time, be your best.
No riera, kia kaha ra,
Nga Mihi Nui,
