Quiz Night Auction

Term 4 is here and we are all looking forward to a lovely sunny term at Maungaraki School. The athletics field are marked out, families are back in the school grounds and our classrooms are buzzing with learning.

I had the privilege of being on camp with the Fern team last week. It was an immensely enjoyable experience and I’m sure one which the children will remember for a long time to come.

Throughout the camp students were asked to pushed themselves out of their comfort zones. What they achieved as they did so was a pleasure to see. From taking on a 20 metre high wire course, dropping down a huge gully on a zip line to sleeping out in the bush and experiencing New Zealand outdoors they took on each challenge with excellent a can do attitude.

A special thank you to the people who helped make the camp possible. Thanks to our wonderful families for their fundraising efforts, the amazing parent helpers who gave up so much of their own time to help out on the camp and of course the teaching team that planned and delivered such a wonderful camping experience.

On Thursday the Kakano team held a lovely sharing assembly here at school. The sheer amount of families that came out to celebrate our youngest learners Was a testament to our supportive community. The hall was jam packed with smiling faces and phones recording the memories as the Kakano students showed off their skills. Thanks to the Kakano teaching team, they are a very special group who really do help grow our newest learners with such care.

Our new community garden is up and running. The school environment team, Mrs Webby and Tim have been busy working alongside the community gardeners to get our first plants in the soil. We are very excited about seeing this area grow.

We have our quiz night organised by the Home and School committee coming up soon. Please do get your teams together and head along for a great time. Last year was an absolute blast! We have some great raffles and auctions up for grabs on the night. Check out some of the merch as modelled by the leadership team. More information on these raffles and the event to come!

I hope you have a great week,

Nga Mihi Nui,
