Waihanga Launch!

Maungaraki School —

Hands on learning at Maungaraki School

It’s shaping up to be an exciting year here at Maungaraki School, with some fantastic developments underway to enhance our students’ learning experiences. One of the most exciting initiatives is the expansion of our Waihanga, specifically designed to cater to the technology programme for our Year 7 & 8 students. Our new Waihanga space is nearly ready to roll out next week, and we can’t wait to see the students start using it!

In the past, our Year 7 & 8 students would travel down to Hutt Intermediate for a few sessions each term to participate in their tech programme. However, this year we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve created and staffed purpose-built technology spaces right here at Maungaraki School. This change will allow our students to spend more time developing their skills in a range of technology areas, all within our own school.

A huge thanks to Ben Young and Nick Hughes, who have worked tirelessly over the holiday period to prepare our Hard Tech space. The new technology programme will cover a wide range of subjects, including arts, digital tech, food tech, and design. Not only will this extend our Year 7 & 8 students’ learning, but it will also engage students across the whole school, providing them with rich and exciting opportunities to explore technology.

We’ll be sharing more updates in the coming weeks as the programme gets underway. Stay tuned!
