Maungaraki School —

For the week ending 9th February 2018

SCHOOL DONATION & ACTIVITY FEES

The Board of Trustees has set the parent donations for 2018 as the following:

First child - $200
Second child - $180 with a maximum  of $380 per family.

Parent statements have been sent out and the school donation is a voluntary component of this.  When payments are made a receipt will be emailed to you as this can be used to apply for a tax credit from the IRD.

Payment for school donations and all other activities can be made at the school office where we have EFTPOS available (including Credit Card payments).  Payments can also be made via internet banking into the school bank account number: 12-3142-0281104-00

Families are welcome to make regular payments to cover any fees.  Please contact the school office if you would like to do this so where know how to apply your payment.

WELCOME

This year we warmly welcome Ashley Chesterfield as a new Teacher to Maungaraki School.  She is based in the Hub in room 11/12 along side Hazel Andis.

T-SHIRTS

A new shipment of the school t-shirts has arrived!  We have them available in the school office at a cost of $20 each.  We encourage students to wear their school t-shirt on school outings and at our assemblies.  We are working on some issues with the school sweatshirts but hope to have these available soon.

FUN FAMILY PICNIC & MEET THE TEACHER EVENING

You are welcome to attend our annual 'Meet the teacher' evening being held on Tuesday 13th February.  The 30 minute sessions are aimed at providing families with more information on how the classes and syndicates operate.  There will be time to ask questions and learn what to expect for the year.

Families are invited to share their BYO dinner on the school field from 5:30pm where we will provide some games.  You can then move on to the relevant syndicate meeting at the following times:

  • 6:00pm - 6:30pm - Kowhai Syndicate - room 2
  • 6:30pm - 7:00pm - Nikau Syndicate - room 7
  • 7:00pm - 7:30pm - Totara Syndicate - room 11

READING IN SCHOOLS

We are looking for more volunteers for our 'Reading in Schools' programme.  If you have a couple of hours spare on a Monday & Thursday from 9:00am  - 11:00am and would like to support this programme please us know.

DRIVEWAY & ROAD PATROL

We are looking for more volunteers to support our morning road patrol students from 8:30am to 8:55am.  Having your help with this enables the teachers to be available in their classrooms before the school day begins.  Please contact us if you are able to assist.

A reminder that the driveway will be closed to traffic from 8:30am to 8:55am and again from 2:55pm to 3:15pm to enable students to enter and leave the school safely.  It is important to still use the pathway beside the hall, rather than walk on the driveway during these times to ensure that students and families aren't caught when the driveway is unblocked.

SUNSMART

It is wonderful to see so many students wearing wide brimmed hats.  Students are required to wear these during break times for terms 1 and 4.  We have hats available for purchase at the school office for $12.50.  We are waiting on a new delivery of the smaller sizes which should be here by the end of next week.

RESPONSIBLE USE OF ICT AGREEMENTS

We will soon be sending the ICT Agreements home via Signmee.  Please take the time to discuss these with your child and complete the response form.  If you have any questions or concerns please discuss these with your child's teacher.

MEDICAL INFORMATION AND AGREEMENTS

If your child is required to take medication at school please drop this in to the school office.  We will require you to complete a Medication Agreement outlining the details.

If you have not already done so, please let your teacher or the school office know if there are any medical details we need to be aware of.
