ENVIRO GROUP UPDATE

This week the Enviro group made beeswax wraps in the Waihanga Centre. We grated a beeswax, resin and jojoba oil mix onto cotton material. We carefully melted the wax between baking paper. Once the wax was melted, it stuck to the fabric, making a wrap that we can use again and again instead of gladwrap. Beeswax wraps are great for using anytime you would use plastic wrap - on the top of a bowl, a dish or to wrap loose food. They are easy to clean using water, or a splash of dishwashing liquid. The best part is that they smell like honey!

FOUR WINDS FOUNDATION

We have received a Grant from the Four Winds Foundation for $6200 to go towards our swimming programme. We are very grateful for their support.

YEAR 7 VISION SCREENING

Te Whatu Ora, Health New Zealand provides a vision screening programme for all Year 7 students. Parent information for students being screened on Thursday 15 June:

Vision – pupils will be advised of results at the time of screening. If further assessment is recommended you will be notified by mail.
Children who wear glasses and/or are under professional care and have regular checks will not require a vision check from our service.

Non-consent – please notify your school if you do not want your child being screened.

This screening is not a full assessment of your child’s vision. If you have any concerns, please see an optometrist.

CUP CAKES

Thank you to everyone who supported the Tipu Cup Cake sale. They made over $900 to contribute towards their Zoo trip. They will have another sale in July.

DENTAL BUS VISIT

It is unfortunate that our planned visit to Maungaraki School was unable to go ahead due to recent working work at the school. In the meantime, if you would like your child/children seen at our Hutt Central Hub or they experiencing pain, please ring 0800 TALK TEETH for an appointment.

Thank you - The Bee Healthy Team
