Football: Normandale vs Maungaraki

FOOTBALL

The Maungaraki Year 5/6 Football team kicked off their season against Normandale this week.  It was a tough battle between the sides on the small bottom field pitch (hopefully the big field dries up soon!) At half time the scores were locked at nil all, and in a tense second half Maungaraki managed to take the lead with a well taken goal by Jed.  Near the end of the second half, Normandale won a free kick and unfortunately the shot just slipped in to make it 1-1 which was the way it stayed.

Big thanks to the parents and students who came out to support and also to the two Sports Coordinators, Mr C and Mr Burt, for organising it.  We are looking forward to the rematch (date to be confirmed).

The team are also looking at playing Eastern Hutt in week 5 (TBC).  We will also play Sts Peter and Paul school in week 8 on the 11 September which will include a year 6 Netball game.

SOUTH WEST ZONE SWIMMING

The South West Zone swimming is coming up in a few weeks.  Mr C will be speaking to those students who qualified over the next week confirming the events they are entered for.
