We farewell our Year 8's and other school leavers.

Year 8 Leavers celebration

On Wednesday evening, the Year 8s had their Leavers Celebration.  It took place at the Hutt City Event Centre. The Year 8’s started arriving at 6pm greeted by some year 7 ushers and photographers.  Each Year 8 had a photo with their family and once everyone had arrived the night started.

First Mr Robinson gave a speech welcoming everyone to the event. Next we had a performance by Amy Martell, Ava Keane and Brooke Potter.  Each student received a fun certificate and we each got a pounamu and a yearbook.  We had other performances by Thea Cabacungan, and Jude Savage and Flynn Counsell.  Next were the formal awards.

Congratulations to the following, Thea, Aisling, Jirapinya, Noah, Mia, Bobby, Alexandra and Flynn who each won an award. The awards were followed by social dancing where we performed the foxtrot, cha cha, salsa and merry go round. After the performance the parents joined in.

Once everyone had finished dancing we had refreshments and left when we were ready. Everyone who was there enjoyed this night and it was a great way to farewell our Year 8 leavers.

We also farewell the following children who are leaving us at the end of 2018:

We wish all of our leavers the very best in the future and thank them for being part of Maungaraki School.
