To the end of 2019

HOME & SCHOOL

The Home & School Committee wants to say a big thank you to all the amazing families we have here in our community. Without your support we wouldn’t be able to achieve all the extras for our children and our school.

The H & S organised a number of fundraisers this year, including our first quiz night, our Friday afternoon juicies, a very successful chocolate fundraiser, a great night out at the Hollywood disco for the children, Entertainment books, and calendar art. We introduced monthly meet and greet mornings for parents, and helped out at the Pop Up Christmas Carols last week.

Our fundraisers have meant the H & S can contribute to a variety of things around the school. The largest and most obvious was the awesome new hard surfaces area, including the shade sails and tables. The H & S has also contributed to the Dancing in Schools programme, building supplies for the Build and Play shed, board games for the classrooms, the implementation of the KiVa programme, money for three students to get to a karate competition in Japan, the Kapa Haka uniforms and art supplies towards the fantastic artworks we saw in term 3.

Thank you for your support.

MEDICATION HELD BY SCHOOL

If we are currently holding medication for your child at school, please come in to the office and collect this before the end of term.  This is a good chance for you to check that the medication is still relevant and hasn't expired.

Bring anything required for 2020 at the beginning of Term 1.

LOST PROPERTY

We have a large amount of lost property which includes some camp items.  Please come in and check out the pile if you are missing anything.  All items left at the end of our last day will be donated to a charity.

FAREWELL STAFF

It is with sadness that we will be saying goodbye to Fiona Kerr at the end of this year. She has been working in our Junior School in the roll of Teacher Aide. Her warm, caring nature and dedication to high quality education has been instrumental in helping to develop effective programmes for our students of need. We are likely to see Fiona back at Maungaraki School in the role of a relief teacher. We wish her all the best in her new endeavours for 2020.

LIBRARY

We would like to thank you all for supporting the library throughout the year.
Maungaraki School earns 20% in Scholastic Rewards on all Book Club orders, this has allowed us to update a lot of our outdated books as well as grow our Young Readers and Young Adults collections.

A big thank you to the families who donated books, it is very much appreciated.  We had a fabulous team of librarians this year who all worked towards student librarian awards and we are looking forward to adding some new recruits to this team next year.  Have a great Christmas and summer break, we will see you next year!
