Term 1 - Week 10
HUTT VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL - OPEN EVENING
Mark your calendars for Wednesday 15 May from 6-8pm for Hutt Valley High School's annual Open Evening.
This event is an excellent opportunity for parents, caregivers and students interested in attending in 2025 to take a guided tour around the school and see learning areas on display. The Open Evening starts in the school hall at 6pm with an introduction from Denise Johnson (Principal). Guided tours will then run from 6-8pm. Everyone is welcome to attend; no registration is required.
YEAR 7 VISION SCREENING
Health New Zealand, Te Whatu Ora provides a vision screening programme for all Year 7 students. We will be coming to Maungaraki School on the 5 June 2024 to screen all year 7 students along with any year 8's who were missed last year.
· Vision – pupils will be advised of results at the time of screening. If further assessment is recommended you will be notified by mail.
· Children who wear glasses and/or are under professional care and have regular checks will not require a vision check from our service.
Non-consent – please notify school if you do not want your child being screened.
This screening is not a full assessment of your child’s vision. If you have any concerns, please see an optometrist.
HOODS UP VOLUME DOWN
Thanks to everyone who helped support Hoods Up, Volume Down 2024. This was a nationwide movement for acceptance, understanding, and accessibility for the autistic community. Our school had so many students wear a hoody and bring along a donation for Autism NZ. We were also extremely lucky to have some amazing prizes to give out from our friends at Autism NZ, congratulations to everyone that received a spot prize!
Thank you Autism NZ, for all the mahi you do in this area, for your support of whānau in the community and your continued support of our kura.
