FAREWELL TANIA

Our Office Manager extraordinaire is leaving us

It is with a heavy heart that we say farewell to Tania Potaka, our exceptional Office Manager & Finance Officer - do it all person, who has been the heartbeat of Maungaraki School for the past 8 years. Tania has truly been the glue that has held our school together. Her role is wide and varied, and she will be missed by so many in our school.

Tania is the first person we all turn to when something needs fixing, and her dedication to the wellbeing of everyone at the school is a testament to her spirit. She has always gone above and beyond the job description, not only ensuring the smooth running of the school but also caring for our tamariki in times of need, mending their bumps, comforting them, and making sure they feel safe.

Her contribution has extended far beyond the office. Tania has been an invaluable coach for so many sports teams over the years, nurturing and guiding countless students. Tania has spent many a windy day outside in the Maungaraki breeze giving kids the opportunity to play sport. Her devotion to this has been unmatched and has really shown the person she is, always willing to give her time for others benefit.

On a personal note, Tania has been a huge support to me as Principal. Her calm head, wisdom, and encouragement have helped me navigate countless challenges. She has been the mindful voice guiding the school's spending carefully, and the voice of reason making sure all angles were thought of. Her attention to detail has been invaluable to me. Simply put, I could not have done it without her.

β€œHe aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata.” – What is the most important thing in the world? It is people, it is people, it is people. Tania, you have given so much of yourself to the people of Maungaraki School and the wider community, and we are grateful for your incredible service, care, and leadership.

Tania is heading on to a new role at LINZ. This role is an awesome opportunity for Tania, where she can grow her leadership skills, develop her career pathway and earn a wage more close to what she deserves.

While we will miss you Tarn, we wish you all the very best in the next chapter of your life. Thank you for everything!
