BOOK WEEK

Maungaraki had a fantastic book week, we were lucky enough to have two authors come and visit us. We had Paul Beavis and a local Maungaraki author, Denika Mead. To find out more about Denika or Paul please visit their websites:

Each lunch time we had a special event in the library, all the events were well attended. We finished our book week with an amazing parade where students and staff were able to show off their fabulous book character costumes. 

Author Denika Mead's Visit

At the end of book week, Denika Mead came to visit the Ponga Syndicate and talk about being an author. She then talked about how she wrote books. We asked her some questions. She got us to create our own monster and write a short paragraph about it. One thing I took away from her visit was that even though being an author is no easy task, she accomplished it at the age of 15 and that anything you work for, you can accomplish.
