TERM 1
PARENT TUTOR READING
We have an amazing space with our Whare Pūrākau (Library) and we love to utilise this space for our students. One of the ways is to give our students the chance to read with our parent community. If you are free from 9am-10am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during term time and would like to support one on one reading please get in touch with Darian Schulz darian.schulz@maungaraki.school.nz.
HIRING OUR LIBRARY SPACE
If you are keen on using our new Library space outside of school hours, it's available from 6pm to 10pm week nights. It is also available on a Sunday. It can be hired out for small community events, clubs and hui. This is strictly a no party or alcohol space.
The space is new and can cater for groups of up to 50 people comfortably. It has a modern kitchen and two excellent bathroom facilities. A projector and whiteboard are available for use when the space is hired along with 40 additional chairs.
Fees vary depending on the purpose of your event. Community events will pay $15 for an evening session. Commercial events will pay $35 for an evening session. Contact us to discuss if you are interested in hiring the space:

ENVIRO UPDATE
Our gardening group has been very busy in the garden. On Wednesday they join Whaea Brydie and Mrs Webby to do weeding, planting and keeping the garden tidy. This Wednesday we put in cabbages and silverbeet, and tidied up one of the garden beds ready to put in some flowering plants for the bees. We also put in some sheep pellets and put the pulled out plants and weeds onto one bed as it is fallow over the winter.
Our Movin March team has been busy giving out stickers and stamping cards. We will be starting to give out the prizes next Thursday in Rm 9. We have beeswax wraps, pens, colour pencils and notepads. Please make sure your name is on the back of the card as they will be sent into Wellington Council to go in the draw for one of the 6 x $400 Myride vouchers.
We have a new recycling bin from the council which is making it easier for us to keep up with the amount of recycling we generate each day. We have a small plastics recycling bin outside room 9 into which plastics numbered 1, 2, and 5 and cans can go. Our worm farm is hungry, and any fruit peels and cores can be put directly in there during the day.
