Term 1
We have some exciting developments happening at school which will be amazing once they are completed. Maungaraki School has two major property projects, our entranceway and three classroom block are in no danger of being impacted by the recent changes in spending by our new government.
The three classroom block at the back of the school is progressing well. This space is due to be completed in Term 3 and has some views of Wellington that have to be seen to be believed. This three classroom block will have three large learning spaces, two breakout rooms, a full kitchen as well as some beautiful outdoor learning spaces.
Unfortunately, the new entranceway development has not been going as smoothly as we would have hoped. We understand just how disruptive having this space out of action is, for our school and wider community. As a school we are working with the Ministry and Council to alleviate the disruption as much as possible. The issues that have occurred during construction are not easily solved. While preparing the space, our team uncovered some unmarked power cables. Obviously when working with power it is imperative to use experts, and booking in these experts is what has caused the delay.
The carpark and entranceway will now be handed over to the school in two stages. At the completion of Stage 1 the majority of the car park will be complete and ready for use by our community. This should be at the beginning of Term 2.
On the completion of Stage 2, the new entranceway will be open. This is scheduled for the end of Term 2. All going well the whole entrance should be in use by the middle of the year holidays.
Again, thank you so much for your patience with this. If you have any questions, please feel free to pop in and see me at any stage.
