Principal's Message

Maungaraki SchoolFebruary 6, 2025

We are back!!!

Kia ora Maungaraki Whānau,

Welcome back to 2025 at Maungaraki School! We hope you had a restful and enjoyable summer break, filled with laughter, and special moments with your whānau. The weather in Wellington has not been spectacular to date, however it has been hot, sunny and clear since we returned to school.

As we start our new school year, we extend a warm welcome to you all. A special welcome to the new families, tamariki and staff who have joined us this year. We had a lovely Mihi Whakatau to welcome these people to our extended whanau last week - it was an occasion full of manaakitanga. We look forward to getting to know each and every one of you and building a strong, supportive community together.

This term promises to be filled with exciting learning opportunities, fun activities, and community events. We have planned a range of activities to engage and inspire our tamariki, fostering a love for learning that extends beyond the classroom. In week 3 we will have our meet the teacher night which we warmly invite you in to look through classrooms and share some time with your child's classroom teacher.

This year we will be sharing and celebrating our learning at Full School Assemblies on a Wednesday afternoon from 2pm - 3pm. We have been forced to change the day of Assembly from Friday to Wednesday due to timetabling across the school. All other elements of our assembly will remain the same, with HEART awards, singing and lots of fun!  We look forward to seeing you there to celebrate your child's learning together.

At Maungaraki School we encourage open communication between whānau, teachers, and staff to ensure the success and well-being of every child at Maungaraki School. If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to your child's classroom teacher first, they will be only too happy to help. Working together we can make a huge difference.

Here's to a fantastic 2025 at Maungaraki School filled with growth, learning, and memorable moments.

Noho ora mai,

Shane Robinson
