Let's keep our taonga safe.
Kia ora koutou Parents and Whānau,
Today's newsletter item is regarding a serious concern that has arisen during our morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up times in the new school car park. Unfortunately, we have observed and had reported a number of instances of dangerous driving behaviour that are putting our children at risk.
We have witnessed vehicles speeding, parking incorrectly and stopping in unsafe locations. Regrettably, this has already resulted in incidents of multiple cars being hit and a vehicle driving into our new library building.
These actions are creating a hazardous environment for our students and their families. The safety and wellbeing of our tamariki is our absolute priority, and this current situation is simply unacceptable.
We would ask all parents and caregivers to please be mindful of your driving behaviour. Please refrain from parking inappropriately in the carpark and surrounding areas of the school. We kindly request that you utilise the car park primarily as a drop-off and pick-up zone only. If possible, we encourage you to park further away from the immediate school entrance and walk your child the remaining distance. This will significantly reduce congestion and the potential for dangerous situations.
Your cooperation in ensuring a safe environment for all our students is greatly appreciated. Let's work together to make our car park a safe zone for everyone.
Ngā Mihi Nui,
Shane Robinson
