Update from Lismore
This week we have been talking about all we have achieved this year, and it is a long and exciting list!
We hit the ground running with swimming and creating art for the show. I am incredibly proud of how well they demonstrated their learning at our Swimming Gala, and we’ve had lots of wonderful feedback on how great all the art looked at The Show. We’ve been working hard in the classroom as well, looking at statistics and measurement in maths, the writing process and sentence types in writing, and finding the main idea and comprehension strategies in reading. We’ve had lots of sporting opportunities with Claudia from Mid Canterbury Sport coming out at the start of the term. We’ve also had Kirsty from Mid Canterbury Rugby and the boys from Southern Rugby come out and do some rippa rugby training with us. Check out some of our highlights below!
Rippa rugby is fun and enjoyable. I love it when I get a rip or a try. Last week some people came out and did some rotations. Some were rob the nest, a game of rippa, and some other crazy games. They were incredible. It was so much fun! - Skyler
Oral language is a type of thing we do in Lismore classroom. It helps us to be calm in the morning and not to give our teacher a hard time. Oral language is where we stand up, and then the teacher plays some calming music to calm us down. Then she stops the music, we sit down with the person next to us, and we sit down and talk about different things. - Eliora
Rippa rugby is very fun. We run so fast. I like having the ball and running fast. I like running on grass, not on stones. - Jolas
Hi, my name is Walter and I like rippa because it is fun and you can get rips and tries. - Walter
This yer in maths we have been doing statistics and much more. For statistics I did "What is Lismore's favourite thing to do at home?" The ones I did were video games, hide and seek, play outside, and watch TV. Video games had 11 people and hide and seek had none. - Kaidus
My favourite thing has been rippa because we got to play five games and they were all different every time. It hall happened because the Southern Rugby Club came out. - Jayden
Rippa is fun to learn how to play because we can rip each others rips. You play with the rugby ball. You can tap and pass to your team mate. Half time is a break that means you and your mates can drink and take a breath. - Nisi
I love to play rippa, it is my favourite sport. It is very easy to play. All you have to do is rip people and get a try. At the end of the game you get a free sausage and go home. On Friday the whole school played rippa. It was rotations. One game you had to rip and put it on your back. It was fun. - Indy
My highlight so far is art. When our class did assembly I spoke in Spanish and showed my Show art. - Hazell
I am proud of myself at rippa because I have family members who support me and are very kind. I always try my best to run after the person with the ball. I always try my hardest to keep up and help my team. - Esmae
One thing I liked so far is rippa. I did well at rippa and it was fun! - Peter
I played rippa. I was proud of my rippa game. I scored three tries and lots of rips. It was nice to play rippa. On Friday the rugby people came to school to teach rippa. - Rajveer
Art is really special to me plus it is really fun. I'm not that good at but if I try hard enough I will be good. Rippa rugby is for sports people, which I'm not, but it's fun and amazing. Swimming is fun and cool. If you go to the deep pool you can just doggy paddle. Mayfield Show art is fun and easy to love. - Iya
My highlight so far is when we made art for the Mayfield Show. We made two things. The animal art and the collaging. I really loved the animal art, especially doing the animal print and sticking the silhouette on top. - Gabe
Rippa rugby is the one thing I absolutely love. I like rippa rugby because I get to be free like a little bird flying freely. I also get to compete against other schools and I get really competitive. - Hazel
Writing is fun and learning new words is cool. - Taylor
Hi my name is George and I like statistics because it was fun doing the measuring for the graph. - George
My favourite thing has been swimming because I got to race my friends and have lots of fun and I got to practice my swimming. - Lochie
I am proud of homework because I do most of it every day. I love the basic facts and spelling words. The activities around the house are fun because it helps you do jobs and some keep you exercised. - Annabelle
My favourite part about the school year was when Miss M introduced us to the maths work books. I had fun going through and filling in the answers. When I was done I could help my friends. - Fergus
My highlight so far is our new maths work books. I like them because I just get told what to do and I do it. I also like them because it has been good practice for my twenty fives skip counting. - Charlotte
