Remembering Trucky

Maryn Austin —

On the last day of this term, Friday 11th April, the board of trustees would like to invite families, caregivers and the wider community to come together to remember Trucky (Andrew) Carr. At 10am, it will be our last assembly for term one. There will be a tree planting and a "Trucky" bench will be placed in the garden, to commemorate all that Trucky did for Mayfield School. With a morning tea to follow.

It will be a year since Andrew's passing and this was the article that was written by ex-principal Richard Kidd a year ago:

I am deeply saddened to hear of the sudden passing of Andrew "Trucky" Carr. Trucky was heavily involved with the school during the time his three children attended Mayfield School. Trucky was the main driver of the calf rearing scheme for a number of years however, the outbreak of M Bovis put a stop to this. Trucky and Mark Greenslade were instrumental in establishing the school farm, bringing a much needed revenue stream for the school. Trucky also successfully, invested a lot of his own time approaching local businesses to provide sponsorship for the school and organised the sponsorship signage which stands at the front of the school. Trucky served on the Board of Trustees for three years and with his cheerful and positive demeanour always tackled issues with a problem solving approach. A true community man, he will be sorely missed.
