Welcome back to 2025 from H&S

Victoria Clarke —

We hope you had a nice summer break and managed some quality family time.

Home and School had its first meeting on the 12th of February and the minutes from this will be shared to the Home and School Messenger chat shortly. It was great to see some new faces around the table and to welcome our new Principal to her first meeting also. A payment for $15,000 to assist funding the fifth teacher was passed and what a fantastic way to kick off the year.

We have plenty of fundraising activities planned including a colour run in term two, sausage sizzle for the Southern Rugby Club, catering for the Lions Club and Ladies Dinner Club as well as repeating our very successful compost fundraiser.

Our catering efforts this year are going to have a new flavour with our migrant families joining us to help cook and prepare food from different cultures. We are so excited to find a way to include more families in our efforts and thank Valeska Scott for her leadership in this.

We also set classroom delegates for this year, a great way to strengthen the link between school families and teachers and are still looking for two parents who would like to be the delegates for Ruapuna. If you are keen please let me know. The full list will be published in our meeting minutes and final list sent out in Hero once we find Rupauna's. I have included the role of the classroom delegate below if you are keen to find out more.

We are due to have our AGM in the middle of March, the date and time will be confirmed shortly but may be around the 14th of March so please pencil this in your diaries. We will be releasing a poll on the messenger chat soon to see what time meetings suit the majority of families and may look to alternate these after school and evening meetings to try and allow more people to attend.

As always everyone is welcome at our meetings and your help to improve facilities and educational outcomes at Mayfield School.
