Principal Message - Week 8

Maryn Austin —

"Mā te mahi tahi, ka ora ai te katoa." "Through working together, everyone will thrive."

As we get to the end of another week of mahi (work), I am reminded again of the hardworking community we have here in Mayfield.  In our rural school, community is at the heart of everything we do. Like a strong, interconnected whānau, we rely on each other to create the best learning environment for our tamariki. Whether it's helping at events, supporting in the classroom, or simply lending a hand when needed, your contributions make a real difference. Together, we grow, learn, and thrive.

Ngā Mihi – Thank You for Your Support at the A&P Show!

A huge thank you to our incredible school community for your support at the A&P Show. Whether you helped with preparation, volunteered on the day, helped our tamariki make some creations to enter or simply came along to support, your efforts made a real difference. Events like these showcase the strength of our rural community—where teamwork, generosity, and a shared commitment to our tamariki make everything possible.  We are so grateful for your time and dedication. It’s this community spirit that makes our school a pretty special place.

Whilst preparing for the show, your children have been working hard towards their core curriculum learning goals. Each child has learning goals set by their classroom teacher and can be viewed by whānau on HERO.  Teachers have set these goals, which align with the refreshed Maths and English curricula. As we strengthen our students taking ownership of their learning, teachers will make sure your child’s learning is visible in the classroom.  We aim for each child to know where they are at, where they are trying to get to, and identify how they will get there.

Thank you to those of you who have already booked a time for your child’s parent conference.  The idea is for us to share with you where your child is at, and plan a pathway to work together.  You will also hear of some learning routines your child has during the day, and some information about the refreshed English and Maths curricula.

Ngā mihi
