Wellbeing Resources: A traffic light approach

Jenelle Hooson —

In this newsletter I am sharing another excellent online resource which provides guidance and advice for you in your role as a parent/caregiver, helping you to meet your children’s wellbeing needs where they are at.

This locally designed Traffic Light Wellbeing resource, through Pegasus Health, provides links to access support for when your child is ‘keeping well’ (green light), ‘needing extra support’ (orange light) and in ‘immediate crisis’ (red light). The ‘keeping well’ support links recognise the importance of your child prioritising their wellbeing, including when they are feeling well. The ‘extra support’ links are for when times are tougher and your child may be struggling. Both of these sections could be explored alongside your child so that they know there is a wide range of wellbeing support that can be accessed. Finally, the ‘immediate crisis’ links are for when someone you care about is in urgent need of help and you are worried about their safety.

As we head towards the holiday period and your children are not in regular contact with their school support people, such as their teachers, teacher aides, support staff and myself, I am grateful to be able to share such a helpful resource, one which you can easily use as a parent to access support for your child’s needs.
