Waitangi day

Teresa Garratt —

The first two weeks of school have been very busy with activities including learning about Waitangi Day and having a water fight.

This week we have been doing an Ako plan about Waitangi Day and learning.

We have learnt that William Hobson was the main person and he saved New Zealand from private sales. Some of the interesting facts we learned were:

New Zealand adopted Waitangi Day in 1974.

The Waitangi Treaty is often called the founding document of New Zealand, it is written in English and Maori.

Over 500 Maori chiefs signed the treaty.

The Water Fight! 🌨☔

Last week Team 5-6 attempted a water fight. We tried to get wet before the heavy rain got here.  As we were lining up for the water slide it suddenly flew away .  But don't worry we did get really, really, really WET when it rained!  Miss Wilson and Miss Vickers were not expecting to get that WET .  At least we all had fun right?!
