News from Mahuta Week 8, Term 3

Laura Della Bosca —

It is hard to believe that there are only two more weeks of Term 3 left, it has truely flown by here in Mahuta.

It has been great to see the sun shining this week and the students have been outside practising for athletics. Please continue to make sure your child is bringing their P.E gear to school on Wednesday and Friday.

Market Day Ako Base - Fiona, Caitlin and April.

This term in Mahuta, we have been busy preparing for market day. We have been following a Ako base which has the different steps of what we need to do.

We have chosen to do lip scrubs for the market day. Some of the steps we have been doing are researching ideas on what to make, finding out how to make it, how much it costs and more. We are currently on step six which is making some prototypes of our lip scrubs and seeing what people think of them. We are having lots of fun testing our product and can’t wait to sell and buy stuff at market day.

A reminder that our Market day will be held in Term Four on Thursday 2 November.

Tuakana Teina in action: Making Coffee with Liam - By Amber

On Wednesday Liam taught me how to make coffee with his coffee machine. We poured some milk into the milk warmer and turned it on then we had to put some water into the holder. We then put a little coffee pod into the machine and put a cup under where the coffee comes out and pressed the button to make the coffee come out. Then once the coffee had finished coming out we poured the milk into the cup and stirred it. Liam was a very awesome teacher and I really enjoyed learning from Liam.
