Go on give it a TRY..........

The Weet-bix Tryathlon is a wonderful event for 7 - 15 year olds. It follows the traditional triathlon format  but designed with children in mind.  For those of you are concerned that your child can't swim the required distance, the children can use a kick board and there are a large number of adult helpers in the pool during the event.  This is a very achievable event and from past experience the children really seem to love it and get a real sense of satisfaction from completing it. 

By entering as part of a school group you will enjoy a reduced entry fee of $35 which includes a very cool t-shirt along with some other goodies and the opportunity to win some amazing prizes.  The school will also have the opportunity to win some great prizes.  At the moment there is also a code on your Weetbix box which allows you to vote for your school, which gives the school further chances to win.

We will have a meeting area for Merrin School students and supporters with a gazebo - bring a picnic rug or camping chairs, there is a bit of waiting involved. Thanks to the generous support of the PTA there will be spot prizes for participants and a sausage sizzle for participants and supporters.   This event is also a great way to get your Te Kotiritiri challenges started for the year.

As there is a lot of paper involved with  the entry forms there  will only be a note coming home with the children who express an interest at school on Friday, if your child doesn't bring a note home and you require one you can request one from me or your class teacher.

 This year you are also able to now enter online (http://try.weetbix.co.nz/) and link to Merrin School. This however will incur the standard charge of $42.50, instead of the $35.00 if you register through the school.  All on line registrations will need to be completed by Wednesday 25th February.

 If you have already registered and would like to be a part of the Merrin group can you please  contact me?  I can add you to our registered group, and  it will allow me to correctly estimate numbers for the sausage sizzle.
