Hi, My name is Damien “The Guitar Man” Riddell .

I made a lifestyle change 10 years ago from Music Retail to self-employed Guitar Tutor mainly for my family. I now, as a husband and Dad of four sproggs can be around home a bit more and attend those important things that we only get to have a go at once. Even with just over 100 students per week , I am still able to attend those important school assemblies, have lunch at home with my wife Emma. 

I am not a “Qualified” teacher, but have had years of professional experience from being a covers musician and being employed at the Christchurch Rockshop for seven years. I feel I still deliver “the goods” when teaching as I keep the lessons/songs modern and fresh. I also do my best to take requests from the students which holds their interest! 

I do not teach traditional music notation, but a more modern method for guitar called “guitar tablature”. I can also teach students through a graded programme called “Rockschool” ex UK at extra cost for books etc.

I am at Merrin school twice a week, Tuesday for guitar lessons and Friday for rockband
